Area archeologica di Pani Loriga

The Archaeological Area of Pani Loriga is located in the territory of Santadi, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is one of the most significant sites for understanding the nuragic and punic phases of south-western Sardinia. The complex is located on a panoramic height overlooking the surrounding valley, in a strategic position from the settlement and defensive point of view.
The site preserves the remains of an ancient articulated settlement, with traces of nuragic structures, fortifications and subsequent reuses in punica age, which testify to a long continuity of attendance. Archaeological evidence indicates a inhabited area and defence, linked to the main control systems of the ancient Sulcis territory.
The landscape is characterized by hilly reliefs, Mediterranean vegetation and rocky outcrops, which contribute to enhancing the dominant position of the site. The natural environment has favoured the preservation of the structures and enhances its historical and visual value.
