Batteria Bega Giomitri

The Bega Giomitri Battery is located in the hinterland of Sant’Antioco Island, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is a former anti-aircraft military station realized during the Second World War. The site was part of the Italian coastal defensive system DICAT/MACA, intended for the protection of the territory from air and naval attacks.
The area still retains traces of the original structures, including barracks, artillery pitches and a telemetric station, functional elements to control and pointing defenses. The armament consisted of artillery pieces 76/40, used for anti-aircraft defense and against any incursions from the sea.
