Centro per l’allevamento e il ripopolamento di Pantaleo

Centre for breeding and repopulation of Pantaleo (Santadi) is a structure specialized in faunal conservation and breeding of the Lepre Sarda (Lepus capensis mediterraneus), native species of Sardinian territory. The centre operates within the Pantaleo State Forest, in a natural environment protected and surrounded by greenery, easily reachable from the SP213 between Capoterra and Santadi.
The structure is managed within the programmes of the Forestas Agency and is born with the aim of preserving local biodiversity through conservation and repopulation activities. The center uses cage and natural fence breeding systems, contributing to the genetic protection of the Sardinian hare populations, with particular attention to the conservation of the different regional genotypes.
Thanks to scientific studies and university collaborations, the center today represents an important reality for the conservation of Sardinian wildlife, with significant results in terms of growth and maintenance of the species.
