Domus de Janas di Serra Maverru

The Domus de Janas of Serra Maverru are located in the territory of Sulcis-Iglesiente, in the south-west of Sardinia, and represent an important prehistoric funerary complex carved into the rock. The site is inserted in a hilly context characterized by Mediterranean vegetation and rocky outcrops typical of Sardinian hinterland.
The structures consist of hypogetical tombs carved in stone, typical of prenuragic civilization, used as places of collective burial. The interiors symbolically reproduce the houses of the time, with funerary rooms and architectural details obtained from the rock.
