Domus De Janas Su Monti de is Baccas

Le Domus de Janas Su Monti de is Baccas (Sant’Antioco) is an important funerary complex of prenuragic Sardinia, dating back to the Neolithic and the age of the Copper, located in the territory of Sant’Antioco (09017 SU). The site represents a significant testimony to the ancient practices of hypogeic collective burial of the prehistoric communities of the island.
The complex consists of graves carved into the rock, organized in articulated interiors that symbolically recall the houses of the living. The domus de janas were destined to deposition of the dead and rituals related to the cult of the ancestors, according to the funerary traditions typical of prehistoric Sardinia.
