Domus de Janas

The Domus de Janas of Carbonia are located in the territory of Sulcis-Iglesiente (SU) and represent important prehistoric archaeological testimonies of Sardinia. These are ancient hypogeic tombs dug into the rock, dating back to the Neolithic and prenuragic period, used as places of collective burial.
These archaeological sites are characterized by underground environments with funerary rooms and corridors carved in stone, often linked to cults and funerary rituals of the ancient Sardinian populations. The Domus de Janas are considered one of the most significant elements of the archaeological heritage of the island.
