Ex Saline di Carloforte

Ex Saline di Stato di Carloforte is a vast and suggestive naturalistic and historical site located on the island of San Pietro, in the territory of Carloforte. The area, extended for about 100 hectares, preserves the traces of the ancient production activity linked to saliculture, today transformed into a precious environment of humid area. This space represents an important balance between industrial archaeology, landscape and biodiversity, becoming an ideal habitat for many species of aquatic birds and flora typical of the brackish environments. The contrast between historical structures and the surrounding nature makes the salts a place of great landscape, historical-cultural and environmental interest.
