Faro Mangiabarche

The lighthouse of Mangiabarche is located off the coast of Calasetta, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, on a small rocky islet exposed to marine currents. It is one of the most iconic structures of the south-western coast of Sardinia, inserted in a marine context of great suggestion.
Built on an isolated rock base, the lighthouse is surrounded by a stretch of sea known for the presence of low seabeds, sloping rocks and insidious currents, from which comes the name “Mangiabarche”. The simple and functional structure is designed to withstand the most difficult weather conditions.
The surrounding landscape is characterized by open sea, cliffs and wide horizons, with a strong visual impact due to the insulation of the lighthouse and its strategic position. The area is a reference point for navigation and a distinctive element of the coastal landscape of Sulcis.
