Foresta de Su Corovau

The Forest of Su Corovau is a naturalistic area located in the forest complex of Marganai, in the territory of Domusnovas, in Sulcis-Iglesiente. It is a mountain environment of great landscape and historical value, characterized by dense forests, deep valleys and traces of the ancient mining activity.
Inside the forest is the area of the historic Su Corovau mine, active between 1916 and 1922 for the extraction of silver galena and calamine, later managed by Monteponi. Today the mine ruins remain visible, including tunnels, industrial structures and a silo with hoppers, which testify to the intense extractive activity of the past.
The context is crossed by numerous hiking trails and historical routes, including the Sa Ia 'e Su Vagoni (D-323), which follows the ancient mining railway. The area is highly appreciated for hiking, trailing and climbing, thanks to the variety of terrain and the presence of panoramic points on the valley of Oridda.
The vegetation is typical of the Marganai massif, with oaks, secular oaks and Mediterranean scrub, which contribute to making the landscape lush and naturalistically rich.
