Foresta demaniale del Marganai

The State Forest of Marganai is one of the most important forest areas of southwestern Sardinia, located in the territory of Sulcis-Iglesiente, among the municipalities of Iglesias and Domusnovas. It is a vast wooded complex managed at a public level, characterized by a high naturalistic, landscape and environmental value.
The forest develops on the slopes of the Marganai massif and has rich and diversified vegetation, with prevalence of oaks, cork and Mediterranean scrub. This ecosystem is a fundamental habitat for numerous faunal species and contributes significantly to the biodiversity of the territory.
The area is crossed by trails and nature trails that allow hiking, making it a popular destination for trekking, outdoor activities and nature tourism. Within the complex there are also important environmental emergencies and landscape, such as caves, limestone reliefs and panoramic areas.
