Grotta dei contrabbandieri

The Grotta dei Contrabbandieri, located in the territory of Iglesias in Sulcis-Iglesiente, is located along a coastal stretch characterized by limestone cliffs, open sea and natural environments still strongly intact. The context is wild and unplanned, with a jagged coast that preserves a strong landscape value.
The cavity is a natural formation shaped by marine erosion, which over time created a rocky shelter overlooking the sea. The name recalls the local events related to the use of the cave as possible natural hideout, exploited for its secluded and hardly accessible location. Today the site is appreciated especially for the panoramic aspect and for the suggestive atmosphere, where the contrast between rock and sea defines the identity of the place.
