Grotta dei femori

The Grotto dei Femori, located in San Lorenzo in the territory of Iglesias, is inserted in a hilly context typical of Sulcis-Iglesiente, characterized by limestone rocky outcrops, Mediterranean scrub and a natural landscape still intact. The area preserves a strong environmental value and a silent atmosphere, far from the main urban flows.
The cavity is mainly known for its archaeological importance, linked to the discovery of bone remains that have determined its name. The interiors, shaped by nature over time, are essential but significant, and testify to an ancient site attendance. The cave therefore represents a point of interest both geological and historical-archeological, inserted in the wider prehistoric heritage of the territory of Iglesias.
