Grotta del Pulpito

The Grotta del Pulpito, located near Carloforte on the island of San Pietro, is a natural coastal cavity inserted in a marine landscape of great suggestion, where cliffs at peak and open sea define an environment still wild and little anthropized.
The cave was formed thanks to the erosive action of the sea that, over time, shaped the rock creating a natural opening overlooking the coastal landscape. The name “Pulpito” probably recalls a particular rocky conformation, which stands out for its dominant position or shape reminiscent of a small natural platform. The site is not characterized by large dimensions, but due to the strong scenery of the context: the contrast between rock and sea, together with the panoramic position, makes it a point of interest especially appreciated for the view and the atmosphere.
