Grotta Sa Cava Romana

The Cave Sa Cava Romana, in the territory of Nuxis (Sulcis-Iglesiente), is located in a hilly context rich in Mediterranean vegetation and rocky outcrops, where the landscape preserves a natural and unplanned character. The area is typical of the hinterland of Sulcis, with silent environments and a strong landscape continuity.
The site is distinguished by its mixed nature between natural cavities and possible ancient anthropic use, also suggested by the name “Cava Romana”, which refers to any historical activities related to the extraction of stone. The cave has essential environments, shaped by the action of natural erosion and human interventions over time, with traces that tell the relationship between man and territory. It is not a large cavity, but an interesting place for its historical, geological and landscape value.
