Le Colonne

The Columns of Carloforte are located along the coast of the island of San Pietro, in the territory of Carloforte, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, along the SP103. It is a natural rock formation among the most iconic of the south-west of Sardinia, characterized by phallus that emerge from the sea.
The columns consist of rocks shaped by sea erosion, which over time gave rise to two imposing isolated vertical structures, separated from the coast. These phallus represent a typical example of coastal geomorphological evolution, linked to the continuous action of waves and wind.
The landscape is dominated by open sea, cliffs and Mediterranean scrub, with a strong visual impact due to the contrast between the blue of the sea and the light shades of the rocks. The area is one of the most representative of the coast of the island of San Pietro.
