L’Occhio di Giulia

The Eye of Giulia is located in the territory of Iglesias, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is a natural area inserted in a landscape characterized by rock reliefs, Mediterranean vegetation and hilly environments. The site is known for a particular natural formation that visually recalls the shape of an “eye”, from which the name derives.
The area is mainly calcareous, shaped over time by erosive action of water and wind, which has contributed to the formation of cavities, hollows and rocky structures of great geomorphological interest. The context is typical of the inner areas of Sulcis, with alternation of rocky walls and Mediterranean vegetation.
The surrounding vegetation is composed of Mediterranean vegetation, holm oaks and shrub species, which adapt to the conditions of the soil and the local climate. The area preserves a high degree of naturality, with a landscape that is strongly integrated between geological and vegetative elements.
