Miniera di Malfidano

The Mine of Malfidano, located in the district of Malfidano in the territory of Buggerru (Sulcis-Iglesiente), represents one of the most significant testimonies of the mining history of the south-west Sardinia. The site is located in a harsh and charming landscape, where rocky cliffs, old yards and industrial tracks alternate with Mediterranean scrub traits and sea views.
The area is linked to the historical extractive activity of lead and zinc, which has deeply marked the economic and social development of the territory. Today the mine retains structures and signs of ancient mining work, becoming an important example of industrial archaeology. The complex tells the hardness of working conditions and the intense productive activity that characterized Buggerru between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, making it a place of strong historical value and identity.
