Miniera di Masua

The Masua Mine, located in the homonymous locality of the territory of Iglesias in Sulcis-Iglesiente, is one of the most scenic mining complexes of Sardinia, nestled between sea, cliffs and imposing rock reliefs. The landscape surrounding it is one of the most iconic on the south-western coast, where the extractive activity merges with natural scenarios of great visual impact.
The site is linked to the historical extraction of lead and zinc, activity that has deeply marked the economic development of the area. Today the mine retains industrial structures, galleries and plants that testify to the productive past of the territory, becoming an important example of industrial archaeology. Among the most recognizable elements is the famous landscape of Masua, with mining structures overlooking the sea, which make the place unique for historical and landscape value.
