Miniera di Reigraxius

The Mine of Reigraxius, located in the territory of Domusnovas in Sulcis-Iglesiente, is inserted in a hilly context rich in limestone, Mediterranean vegetation and evident traces of the historical extractive activity. The area preserves an authentic landscape, where nature and industrial archaeology intertwine harmoniously.
The site is linked to the mining tradition of the iglesiente territory, characterized by the extraction of different minerals and the presence of today abandoned yards and galleries. The structures present tell the productive phases of the past and the organization of work in the mine, offering a concrete testimony of the mining life in Sulcis.
Today the Mine of Reigraxius represents an important example of Sardinian industrial archaeology, immersed in a natural environment that over time has reappropriated the spaces, creating a strong contrast between landscape and historical memory.
