Miniera Marganai

The Marganai Mine is located in the territory of Sulcis-Iglesiente, near Iglesias, within the vast mountainous complex of Marganai, one of the main historical mining districts of Sardinia. The site is set in a natural setting of great value, characterized by limestone reliefs, woods and thick Mediterranean scrub.
The area is one of the most important testimonies of Sardinian mining archaeology, with remains of structures related to mineral extraction and processing. There are still ruins of plants, entrances of galleries, industrial infrastructure and historical tracks, which document the long mining activity of the area.
