Monte Maria

Monte Maria is located in the territory of Teulada, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is a relief of great naturalistic and historical interest, known especially for its Ancient Carbonai Way. The area is spread in southern Sardinia, in a coastal and hilly context characterized by granite landscapes and Mediterranean scrub.
The site is crossed by a ring trail of about 5 km, which traces the ancient activities related to the production of vegetable coal. The Carbonai Path, inaugurated in 2015, still retains elements of the old shelters and structures used by the workers of the past.
Along the route there are important archaeological evidence, including three nuraghi, including the evocative Nuraxi de Monte Maria (Su Casteddu de Maria), located on a panoramic rocky spur with 360° views of the coasts of Chia and Tuerredda.
