Mura Pisane

Mura Pisane is an important medieval fortification complex located in Iglesias, Sardinia, and represents the remains of the ancient defensive system of the city. These walls surrounded completely what is now the historic center, organized with sighting towers and strategic access doors that regulated the entrance to the town. The architectural complex bears witness to the Pisan domination period and the strategic role of Iglesias in the mining and military system of the Sardinian Middle Ages.
