Museo del Minatore

The Museum of the Minor of Buggerru, located near the port in Via Marina, is one of the most significant places dedicated to the historical and industrial memory of the territory of Sulcis-Iglesiente. Set within a historic building once used as a mechanical workshop and carpentry, the museum still retains the original structure with machinery and equipment of the time, transforming the space into a direct testimony of mining life and mining work.
The exhibition is divided into several sections and tells the story of Buggerru, the geological evolution of the territory, the daily life of miners and the working conditions within the galleries. Ample space is also dedicated to the social and historical aspects related to the Moti di Buggerru of 1904, a central episode in the history of work in Sardinia.
The museum integrates reconstructed environments, original instruments, historical documents and skulls with minerals and fossils, as well as a multimedia room with testimonies and interviews. The path develops between industrial memory, historical research and social narrative, offering a complete vision of mining reality and its impact on the local community.
