Necropoli di Serra Maverru

The Prehistoric Necropolis of Serra Maverru is an important archaeological site of south-western Sardinia, located in the territory of Sulcis-Iglesiente. The complex represents a significant testimony of the ancient prenuragary communities, with funerary use dating from the Neolithic to the age of the Copper.
The site consists of a set of domus de janas, hypogetical tombs carved into the rock, used for collective burials. The structures have articulated interiors and funerary rooms that reflect the ritual and symbolic practices of the prehistoric populations of Sardinia.
The necropolis stands out for its position in a natural landscape and for the integration with rocky aging, a typical element of prenuratory funerary architectures. This relationship between the site and the environment highlights the strong link between the territory and the worship of the dead.
