Nuraghe Ghilotta

The Nuraghe Ghilotta, located in the territory of Gonnesa in the Iglesiente, is an interesting example of complex nuragico site immersed in a hilly landscape typical of the south-west of Sardinia. The structure, made with local stone, is present today in a state of ruins, but still retains useful elements to the reading of the original plant.
The remains of the walls suggest the presence of more rooms and a possible main tower, typical of the most articulated nuragic architectures. The position, slightly drawn but dominant in the surrounding area, allows a function linked to visual control and management of local resources. The site is located in an area full of archaeological evidence, where the nuragic presence is particularly widespread and stratified.
