Nuraghe Meurras

The Nuraghe Meurras is an archaeological site of Sulcis Iglesiente located in a rural setting that still preserves today the strong imprint of the nuragic civilization in the Sardinian landscape. Nuraghe Meurras is one of the testimonies of the ancient Nuragic settlement system, developed between the Bronze Age and the subsequent prehistoric phases, with functions related to the control of the territory and to the community life.
The monument, now preserved in a partial way, maintains an important historical and archaeological value, useful for the reconstruction of the spread of the nuragic communities in the Iglesiente. Placed in a less urbanized natural environment, the site contributes to the understanding of the network of presidi and defensive structures that characterized the prehistoric landscape of Sulcis, offering a direct testimony to the settlement origins of the area.
