Nuraghe Monte Maria

The Nuraghe Monte Maria is located in the territory of Teulada (SU), in the Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is an archaeological site belonging to the Sardinian nuragic civilization. The structure represents a significant testimony of the ancient human settlement in the area, dating back to the Bronze Age, and contributes to the archaeological heritage of the south-west of Sardinia.
The nuraghe is part of the type of nuragic megalithic towers, built with large blocks of stone and used with defensive functions, housing and control of the territory. Its position on a relief suggests a strategic role linked to the observation and management of the surrounding area in ancient times.
