Nuraghe Sa Reina

The Nuraghe Sa Reina, located in the territory of Masainas, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, is an interesting example of nuragic architecture in local stone inserted in an agricultural and flat context. The site is located in an area easily accessible, but still linked to a rural landscape that preserves authentic traits of Sardinian territory.
The structure, today in a state of ruins, preserves remains of the original plant that allow to recognize a nuraghe probably of simple or articulated type, with walls that suggest the presence of internal environments. The position in the plain, less common than the hill nuraghi, suggests a function linked also to the control of agricultural activities and local resources, as well as to the presence of the settlement diffused in the territory of Sulcis.
