Piazza IV Novembre

The Piazza IV Novembre of San Giovanni Suergiu is the main urban space of the village and represents the administrative, religious and social heart of the town inhabited in Sulcis. Large and central, the square plays a key role in the daily life of the community, hosting public services and serving as a reference point for events and collective activities.
Its plant is linked to the history of the territory: the area was originally known as "Is Argiolas", destined for agricultural activities and the grain treble, before the transformation into urban space and the subsequent intitration to the Victory of the Great War.
The dominant element of the square is the Church of San Giovanni Battista, built between 1958 and 1959, characterized by a modern architectural language and the presence of the mosaic of Filippo Figari, which enriches the façade with an important artistic and identity value.
On the square there is also the Town Hall of San Giovanni Suergiu, located in Via Mazzini 1, which strengthens its institutional and administrative function.
