Piazza Pegli

The Piazza Pegli di Carloforte is an important urban space located in the southern part of the town, on the island of San Pietro, near the ancient salts. The square is a reference point for the social life of the neighborhood, particularly appreciated for its breadth and for the presence of areas dedicated to families.
The central element of space is the Monument to the Falls, inaugurated in 1932 in memory of the fallen of the two world wars. The structure is enriched by a bronze winged Victory, added in 2009, which strengthens its commemorative and symbolic value.
The square also houses the weekly newspaper market, which takes place every Wednesday morning and represents a moment of strong social vitality, with the presence of local products such as the facussa and articles of the island handicraft.
