Piazza Pietro Belly

The Piazza Pietro Belly of Calasetta is the main square of the city center, considered the administrative and social heart of the town. Located in the village of the Sulcis Archipelago, it is one of the most identityful spaces of the local community.
The square is dedicated to Pietro Belly, official sabaudo linked to the promotion of industrial and mining development of the territory. Its urban layout is dominated by the Palazzo Comunale, a 19th century building that was later renovated in 1927, recognisable for the addition of the characteristic clock on the façade.
The central element of space is the Monument to the Falls, built in 1927 by the sculptor Torquato Tamagnini, who depicts a soldier in sight and is one of the most representative symbols of the square.
During the summer season, the square becomes a point of great vitality, hosting cultural and musical events such as the Calasetta Music Festival, and turning into a meeting space between residents and visitors.
