Piazza Sella

The Quintino Sella Square of Iglesias (commonly known as Sella Square) is one of the most representative urban spaces of the city, with a strong historical, social and viary value. Located in the centre of Iglesias, the square developed between 1841 and 1885, with successive extensions between 1909 and 1914 that defined the current quadrangular and ordered plant.
The square is an important urban hub and connection point to the main city leaders, including the connection with Cagliari. In the center is the monument dedicated to Quintino Sella, a key figure in the mining history of the territory, created by the sculptor Giuseppe Sartorio, a symbolic element and identity of the city.
