Pineta di Candiani

The Pineta di Candiani (Porto Pino) is an important naturalistic area located in the territory of Sant’Anna Arresi, within the coastal system of Sulcis-Iglesiente. The site is part of the Geominerario Park of Sardinia and is one of the most interesting dunal and forest environments of the south-west of the island.
The pine forest develops behind the coast of Porto Pino, in an area characterized by a delicate balance between sandy dunes, Mediterranean vegetation and arboreal vegetation. The essences present, mainly maritime pines, play a key role in stabilizing the dunal system and protecting the coastal ecosystem.
The environment is of great landscape and natural value, with a landscape that alternates shaded areas at times open to the sea. The area is historically used for recreational and tourist activities, especially during the summer season, thanks to its proximity to the beach of Porto Pino.
