Porto Flavia

Porto Flavia is located in Masua, in the municipality of Iglesias, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is a rare example of mining port dug directly in the cliff and overlooking the sea. Built in 1925, it represents one of the most innovative works of industrial archaeology in Sardinia.
The complex consists of a system of tunnels, tunnels and loading silos obtained in the rock, used in the past for direct transfer of minerals from mines to ships. The structure allowed the storage and boarding of zinc and other minerals extracted in Sulcis, optimizing shipping times.
