Rampa San Marco

The Rampa San Marco is located in the territory of Iglesias, in the historical mining area of Monteponi, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is a significant infrastructure linked to the industrial mining archaeology of south-western Sardinia. The site is a fundamental element of the complex system of connection between the various extractive areas.
The ramp, about 1 km long, was used for transporting miners and mineral means to the deepest levels of the Marx cultivation site, located about 200 meters deep. The structure demonstrates the evolution of internal mobility systems in the mines of Sulcis.
