Su Carroppu

The site of Su Carroppu is located in Sirri, in the territory of Carbonia, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is one of the most important rock shelters of prehistoric Sardinia. It is a residential and sepulchral context of the ancient Neolithic, fundamental for the study of the first human communities on the island.
The site consists of a natural shelter in rocky wall, used both as a place of settlement and as a funerary area. Archaeological evidence has returned ceramic finds, stone tools and human remains, which testify to a continuous and structured frequentation of the place in prehistoric times.
