Tofet di Sant’Antioco

The Tofet of Sant’Antioco is located in the town of Sant’Antioco, in Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is one of the most important Phoenician-Punic archaeological sites in Sardinia. The area is part of a stratified urban context, where ancient history overlaps with the subsequent stages of settlement of the island.
The site consists of an open-air sanctuary used during the Phoenician and Punic era, characterized by the presence of sacred areas and archaeological remains linked to ritual and funerary practices, which testify to the importance of the island in the traffics and routes of the ancient Mediterranean.
