Tomba dei Giganti Barraccu Mannu

The Tomb of the Giants of Barraccu Mannu (Santadi) is one of the most significant funerary monuments of the nuragic civilization in the Sulcis-Iglesiente, dating back to the Bronze Age. The site is located in a naturalistic context of great suggestion and represents a concrete testimony of the religious and social practices of the ancient Sardinian communities.
The tomb is characterized by the classic megalithic structure with elongated funerary corridor and semicircular frontal exedra, destined to collective rituals. Originally, the monument was covered by a tumulus of land and stones, now no longer visible, which completed its architectural imponence.
The distinctive element of the site is the presence of large lithic blocks arranged with accurate construction technique, witnessing the high engineering capacity of the nuragic populations. The tomb was used for collective burials, linked to ancestral cults and ritual practices shared by the community.
