Tombe di Giganti Candiazzu I & II

The Tomb of Giants On Candiazzu I is an important funerary monument of the nuragic civilization, dating back to the Bronze Age, located in the territory of Sant’Antioco (SU). The site, located in an archaeological area identified by code 2C6G+8J, 09017 Sant’Antioco SU, represents a significant testimony of the megalithic collective burials and funeral cults of the ancient Sardinian communities.
The structure presents the typical configuration of the Tombs of the Giants, with an elongated funerary corridor made with large blocks of stone and a semicircular frontal esedra, used as a ceremonial space for community rituals related to the worship of the dead. The plant was originally completed by a mound of land and stone, now no longer preserved.
The monument highlights the constructive skills of the nuragic populations and the strong link between funerary architecture and landscape. Its location in the context of Sulcis strengthens the archaeological value of the Sant’Antioco area, rich in prehistoric testimonies.
