Torre di Cala Domestica

La Torre di Cala Domestica is located along the coast of Sulcis-Iglesiente, in the territory of Buggerru, within one of the most suggestive coastal landscapes of south-western Sardinia. It is a historical coastal tower built with defensive function and sighting, linked to the system of control of the coast.
The structure is made of local stone and massive masonry, and is located on a promontory that dominates the cala below, allowing a wide view of the open sea and the coastal passages. The strategic position was fundamental for the observation of maritime routes and the signalling of possible dangers.
The natural context is characterized by cliffs, clear sand and limestone cliffs, with a landscaped environment where sea and rock meet in a scenic way. The Mediterranean scrub completes the naturalistic picture of the site, integrating with the morphology of the territory.
