Torre di Palmas

The Torre di Palmas is located in the territory of Giba, Sulcis-Iglesiente, and is a historical coastal tower inserted in the defensive system of the south-western coast of Sardinia. The structure was created with the function of sighting and control of the marine territory, in a strategic area for the surveillance of the coastal routes.
Built in local stone, the tower is located in a flat setting near the lagoon and coastal areas of Sulcis, characterized by humid environments, sandy traits and Mediterranean scrub. The location allowed a wide view of the sea and the internal areas of connection between coast and backland.
