Villaggio Minerario di Malacalzetta

The Minerary Village of Malacalzetta is located in the territory of Sulcis-Iglesiente, in the area historically linked to the extractive activity of south-western Sardinia, and represents an important example of mining industrial archaeology. The site preserves the traces of an ancient settlement born to support the mining and processing of minerals.
The village consisted of service buildings, houses for miners and operational structures linked to the mine, organized according to the typical functional logic of the 19th and 19th century mining settlements. The structures today are in a state of neglect, but maintain a strong evocative capacity.
